Tell us about Uptown China?

On the surface, Uptown China is about preparing delicious meals with fresh ingredients and generous portion sizes but, at the end of the day, the heart of our restaurant lies in community. We have been serving Queen Anne from the same location for over 26 years. One of my greatest pleasures is chatting with my customers when they come in. I have had the pleasure of watching children grow up and now they are bringing their families in for a meal. Two of our regulars, Scott and Wendy had their first date at Uptown China years ago. Over Honey Walnut Prawns and Ginger Cosmos, we watched them fall in love and we were delighted when they announced their engagement. Now they come in a couple of times a month with their two preteen children. Our customers come for food and drink, of course, but just as much to spend time with friends. It is wonderful to see the enduring friendships that have been created right in our restaurant. It is so gratifying when new faces become old friends.

How long have you been a member of Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce?

I joined the Chamber of Commerce 3 years ago hoping to meet more members of our community. Hosting a happy hour event for the Chamber of Commerce was a lot of fun and was the perfect way for me to meet new friends in our neighborhood. I am looking forward to hosting a similar event in May.

We have a top notch chef in Gary Tan, whose hard work in-house, as well as in corporate catering and deliveries, recently earned Uptown China a spot on USA Today’s 10 Best Chinese restaurants in Seattle.

Uptown China is hosting a Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce ‘After Hours’ in May 16th at 5:30PM. Come join us to network with professionals and to enjoy delicious food. Registration link is here.
